Vanessa Lynn Williams (1963-) is a model, singer, songwriter and actress. Performing, music in particular, has been a very vital portion of Williams’ life. Williams began competing in beauty pageants in the early 1980s. She won Miss New York in 1983, and went to the Miss America national pageant in Atlantic City. In 1984, she became the first African American woman to be crowned Miss America, but a scandal caused her to relinquish her title. Williams is quoted as saying “the best revenge is success.” She rebounded by launching a career as an entertainer, earning Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominations. Vanessa launched her recording career in 1988 with her first album, “The Right Stuff,” which went gold and earned her first three Grammy Award nominations. Check out the music video below of her first single “The Right Stuff”..

Williams’ first television appearance was on a 1984 episode of The Love Boat, playing herself. She then made guest appearances on a number of shows, including T.J. Hooker, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, LateLine, MADtv, Ally McBeal and Boomtown. Williams made her film debut in 1986 in “Under the Gun” and she appeared in the films “The Pick-Up Artist,” “Another You” (with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder) and “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man” (with Mickey Rourke).

Here is another one of her music videos from her 1991 multi-million selling follow-up, “The Comfort Zone,” which featured the unforgettable “Save the Best For Last.”

So of course we had to pay tribute to the remarkable artist and entertainer, Michael Jackson. Whether he was disliked or loved.. his message was simple: Spread Love. Producer, Ken Ehrlich told ET’s Kevin Frazier,

“The people that we picked to perform this 3D version of ‘Earth Song’ are the people that I really feel Michael would have wanted to be there — Celine Dion, who was always one of Michael’s favorites. Carrie Underwood, who we talked about the night that I met with him. Usher, who we know he loved. Smokey Robinson, his mentor. And Jennifer Hudson, who performed at the memorial service that we did, but was also someone that Michael really admired a lot.”

Lady Gaga with her heel-less heels and outrageous wardrobe presents “Pokerface” with a following performance with Elton John as they melded her song “Speechless” and his classic “Your Song” together in a performance that featured dueling pianos, and glitter-painted faces. This chick stands out for sure with her many many outfits… but the world loves her music regardless. Lady Gaga won two Grammys during the pre-televised ceremony but “didn’t get a chance to show her multitude of outrageous dresses during the primetime show, losing out on record, song and album of the year.”

Lil Wayne, Eminem, Drake and Travis Barker on the drums performing “Drop the World” and “Forever”

And finally, Beyonce. {smile}

performing Grammy night where she collected six trophies, including song of the year for her anthem “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” Beyonce collected 5 Grammys in 2004 on her album “Dangerously in Love” and this year reached that milestone. She is the first to hit that mark twice. Congrats B! I thought her performance was amazing… a little bit too much at the end with the head banging lol.. but awesome nevertheless. She really put her all into this one and it was probably one of her best live performances in her career thus far. Check it out.. if you missed it.

If you didn’t here are some photos from the event… some were tragedies others were just wonderful.. Check ’em out.

First let’s start with Heidi Klum and husbad Seal. Nice pair, but I wasn’t too thrilled with her dress. It’s a beautiful design but the bottom of it was a bit much for me.

Here we are with Christina Hendricks wearing a Christian Siriano design. Apparently the wave ruffle design is a hot fashion in Paris. Sorry to any fashion fanatics reading this.. I don’t know the exact name or style of this pattern.

Next we have Mr. Gerard Butler… us ladies love this man.

I love this woman.. Sandra Bullock.. but this Bottega Veneta mess of a dress did not compliment her talent at all. Maybe next year Sandra…

One of my favorite looks however…. Halle Berry wearing a Kaufman Franco beauty. Guys what do you think??

Another one of my favorite looks that night… Olivia Wilde, wearing a Gucci dress with Tiffany & Co. jewelry and a Judith Leiber clutch…. caliente!! Supposedly she will be auctioning this dress for Haiti relief.. how nice.

Here we have Emily Blunt in a pink chiffon Dolce & Gabbana dress and her fiance John Krasinski who made his own statement by wearing a navy tux.

Next is Neil Patrick Harris and his boyfriend David Burtka… first of all, I didn’t know that Neil was homosexual.. that’s pretty cool though. I like him. Kudos dude!

A music powerhouse, Beyonce and Jay-Z looked very nice at the Golden Globe Awards.

Finally, Marion Cotillard, whose wearing a lingerie-inspired Christian Dior dress… very beautiful.
